I usually blog about AI in Education, but last week, while prepping for a weekend barbecue, I noticed my trusty four-burner Nexgrill was showing its age. The igniter no longer clicked, and the grease tray was a rusted mess. In the past, replacing these parts meant hours of searching model numbers, scrolling through endless product listings, reading questionable reviews, and hoping I’d pick the right parts at a fair price.
This time, I decided to try something different. I opened ChatGPT, snapped two quick photos of my grill, and simply asked: “I need to replace the drip tray and igniter on this grill. Your mission is to find me the best deal and the correct parts.”

Within seconds, I had clear, specific recommendations: an OEM-style grease tray that perfectly fit my grill, priced under $13, and a replacement igniter kit for just under $20. Not only did ChatGPT point me to the exact parts, but it also explained what terms like “assembly” meant (in this case, a fully-formed, ready-to-install tray) and walked me through common reasons igniters fail so I could diagnose the problem myself. After confirming the parts matched my model, I clicked the links and placed my orders in under ten minutes.
Saving Time and Money
This experience saved me hours of research, eliminated guesswork, and almost certainly saved me money by helping me avoid overpriced “universal” parts or unnecessary repairs.
It was a striking example of how AI, when used thoughtfully, can enhance productivity and cut costs while maintaining quality.
What struck me even more was that the information provided was clear and unbiased. When I asked if the links provided were monetized, ChatGPT assured me that OpenAI does not currently earn commissions or fees from recommended products. The suggestions were based purely on accuracy and user needs—not hidden advertising or affiliate links. That’s the kind of transparency we should expect from any technology we trust.
The Future of Monetization and Integrity
We also discussed where this technology is likely headed. While OpenAI’s current revenue model is based primarily on subscriptions and enterprise licensing, it’s likely we’ll see premium plugins, tiered services, and even optional, clearly-labeled sponsored content in the future. And that’s fine—as long as it remains transparent and ethical.
Trust is the cornerstone of any AI assistant, and users deserve to know if a recommendation comes from a commercial partnership.
I was reassured that OpenAI appears committed to maintaining the integrity of ChatGPT by prioritizing unbiased information and disclosing any future monetization features clearly. As a user and advocate of responsible AI, that commitment to quality and transparency matters to me.
What This Means for SEO
What do experiences like this mean for SEO and digital marketing going forward? Traditionally, companies have been able to purchase ad space on Google or optimize their content to appear at the top of search engine results. With AI-enabled assistants like ChatGPT, however, the user no longer scrolls through a page of links — they simply get a direct answer. This disrupts the entire dynamic of paid placement and organic SEO.
At Human Driven AI, we call optimizing AI models for search, AISO. In fact, it’s critically important that you include your public relations team when planning to optimize AI models for Search as earned media needs to be a part of that strategy.
Going forward, companies will need to focus more on getting their products and information integrated into the data and knowledge bases that AI assistants rely on. This means creating truly high-quality, well-structured, and trustworthy content that is discoverable by AI, not just search engines. Partnerships with AI platforms, inclusion in trusted data sets, and strong brand authority will likely replace many traditional SEO tactics. Businesses that fail to adapt to this new paradigm risk becoming invisible in a world where search queries are replaced by conversations with AI.
A Glimpse of What’s Possible
This little interaction—ordering two simple grill parts—felt like a glimpse of how AI can and should work for all of us: making everyday tasks faster, cheaper, and easier while respecting our trust. Whether you’re fixing a grill, running a business, or teaching a class, the combination of accuracy, transparency, and time savings is exactly what we need from our digital tools.
